Message from Peter Dahlqvist, Chair, IBE European Regional Executive Committee
It is now less than 4 weeks to the start of the 11th Epilepsy & Society Conference in Marseille, France 15 – 17 October 2008. We are looking forward to the conference and to meet old and new IBE friends.
In conjunction with the conference we have an IBE European Committee meeting on Wednesday 15th October from 13.00 to 15.00 in the Oceanie-Australie Room at the Mercure Eurocentre Hotel. At the bottom of this message you will find links to two documents:
· The meeting Agenda
· A letter from the IBE Full Members in Denmark and Norway.
The theme of the Epilepsy & Society Conference 2008 is Active Life and Epilepsy. The Organising Committee has worked hard and we are proud to present a full and interesting programme.
As usual the programme will include various Quality of Life issues. There will be presentations on the psychological effects related to epilepsy; and ways to achieve life goals for both the individual and the organisation. Among the many highlights of the conference are sessions on Epilepsy and Humour and Epilepsy in Contemporary Literature. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will certainly stimulate discussion and political action when you return home. EUCARE has prepared a Best Practice session with excellent speakers. We are also looking forward to a breakfast seminar organised by UCB Pharma. Epilepsy in the Family will most likely be of high interest for many delegates. The programme will also have special focus on how to interpret and use information and how to communicate to get our message and work with the media.
During the sessions and the workshops there will, of course, be time for questions and discussions about Active Life and Epilepsy. This year we are very happy to have parallel workshops in both English and French.
We hope to see you in Marseille!
