The Ecuadorian ILAE Chapter and Ecuadorian IBE member association were honoured to be the hosts of the 7th Latin American Congress on Epilepsy which took place from the 14th to the 17th of November 2012 in the city of Quito, Ecuador. Quito has been declared a World Heritage Centre for its carefully preserved historic centre.
A key priority of ILAE and IBE in developing epilepsy programmes is to promote education and to eliminate the existing treatment gap in people with epilepsy.
The scientific programme included both scientific and social topics, with speakers representing the region as well as from other parts of the world. Following the success of the IBE Epilepsy Day at previous Latin American Congresses, an IBE Day also took place offering an exciting programme to those living with epilepsy and to others in the community supporting those living with epilepsy.
