The International Executive Committee (IEC) consists of 11 elected IBE members and 3 ILAE representatives, who are ex-officio members of the committee. The President, the Secretary General and the Treasurer are elected to office by the Full Members of the IBE. The appointment of the Immediate Past President is ratified by the Full Members of IBE. There are also 7 Regional Vice Presidents elected to the committee who act as liaison points between the IEC and the Regional Committees (REC). Each Regional Vice President is elected by the Full Members in the relevant region. The International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) is also represented on the IEC by 3 officers; the ILAE President, ILAE Secretary General and ILAE Treasurer. All members of the IEC (both elected and ex-officio) have a vote.
