Invitations have recently been circulated to IBE member associations, ILAE chapters and to members of the Executive Committees of IBE and ILAE inviting nominations for three prestigious awards to be presented at the time of the 30th International Epilepsy Congress in Montreal, June 2013. These are the Ambassador for Epilepsy Award – of which up to 12 may be presented – and the Social Accomplishment and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Ambassador for Epilepsy Award
Introduced by then IBE President Mrs Ellen Grass, in 1968, the Ambassador for Epilepsy Award will celebrate 45 years of existence when they are presented in Montreal. Now a joint IBE/ILAE award, to date 289 worthy recipients have been presented with the prestigious Ambassador pin and, when the next 12 awardees are presented with their awards in Montreal by ILAE President Nico Moshé and IBE President Mike Glynn, this number will cross the 300 mark.
The Ambassador for Epilepsy Award is given to individuals to recognise outstanding personal contributions to activities that advance the cause of epilepsy. These contributions and activities should either be performed at an international level or they should have an international impact or significance. The Award reflects international peer recognition and it is given for the lifetime of the recipient.
Social Accomplishment Award
The Award for Social Accomplishment in Epilepsy is given jointly by IBE and ILAE. The Award will be made not more than once every two years and is given to an individual to recognise his or her outstanding personal contribution to activities that have resulted in a significant advance in the social well being and or quality of life of people with epilepsy. These contributions and activities should either have been performed at an international level or they should have had an international impact or significance. The Award reflects international peer recognition. It consists of an engraved glass trophy and a financial prize.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest award presented by ILAE and IBE. Presented jointly by IBE and ILAE, the Award is given to an individual to recognise and honour his or her exceptional and outstanding personal contribution over a long period of time to activities that advance the cause of epilepsy. The award consists of It consists of two commemorative and inscribed silver candlesticks and a financial prize.
The closing date for all nominations for all three awards is Monday 31st December 2012.
- Only IBE member associations, ILAE chapters and members of the Executive Committees of IBE and ILAE are eligible to submit nominations.
- The rules for all awards should be read carefully before submitting a nomination to ensure that procedures are strictly followed.
- Nominations received after the deadline will not be considered.
