Excellence in Epilepsy Journalism Award Winner features in NY Times

Aliyah Baruchin, a winner of the 2009 IBE and UCB Excellence in Epilepsy Journalism Award has had an article on epilepsy in Sierra Leone published by the New York Times. Aliyah used her prize money from the award to travel to Sierra Leone to carry out research on epilepsy and stigma. Her article ‘Stigma is the toughest foe in an epilepsy fight’ is the result of this study tour. In it she talks about the work of the IBE member in Sierra Leone and the educational activities it provides to its members.

Excellence in Journalism Award 2011

The Excellence in Epilepsy Journalism Award, a joint initiative of IBE and UCB Pharma, rewards journalists from across the world who have produced informed and accurate news and feature articles on epilepsy. There are three categories – print, online and broadcast media – which are reviewed and judged by an international panel of judges.
