At the out set my sincere thanks to the IBE members who have elected me to be the Chair of South East Asian Regional Executive Committee. While the myths, misunderstandings and stigma attached to epilepsy is worldwide, it is much more prevalent in developing countries— in view of low literacy, deeply entrenched misconceptions about epilepsy which dates back to several thousands of years and added to that are the socio economic reasons.
Every IBE Full and Associate Member belongs to a Regional Committee, with membership determined closely in line with the WHO regional boundaries. The South East Asia Region is one of the smallest of IBE’s 7 regional structures.
