About the Regional Committee
After the International Epilepsy Congress in Paris in September 2006, the Asian Oceanian Regional Committee divided into the South East Asia Regional Committee and the Western Pacific Regional Committee. Since then, China, Mongolia and Philippines have become new Full Members in the Western Pacific Region. This region now has 10 Full Members: Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and New Zealand and 5 Associate Members.
In the new IBE constitution, each Regional Executive Committee comprises the Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary. The Vice President for the region is an ex-officio voting member. The Regional Executive Committee takes charge of regional matters.
Andrew Pan from Singapore was elected as the Vice Chair and Tseng Yuan-Fu from Taiwan was elected as Secretary in March 2006. In April 2006, Hidemoto Kubota was elected as Regional Chair and Shung-Lon Lai was elected as Vice President to represent the region on the IBE International Executive Committee.
