Message from the Chair
Dear Friends
The present IBE European Regional Executive Committee has now been working since the election at the International Epilepsy Congress in Paris 2005.
During these two years we have had a very successful Epilepsy and Society Conference in Copenhagen 2006.
In close collaboration with IBE Regional Committee South Asia we have also initiated and held a parallel session at the International Epilepsy Congress in Singapore 2007 – European and Asian Action to Improve Quality of Life.
We have also continued the work as contact persons. Each member of the committee is a contact person for several IBE European Members (see list below). In this way we offer contact for information, advice or support for the members. The committee has also taken steps to develop support and contacts to encourage development of new member organisations during 2007 – 2009. In November 2007 we hope to attract representatives from different countries in Europe to a meeting in Athens for countries that as yet have no epilepsy organisations or IBE members. The purpose is to inform and encourage the implementation and initiatives for new epilepsy organisations and later on, of course to become IBE members.
At present we are focusing very much on the 11th Epilepsy & Society Conference in Marseille, France 15 – 17 October 2008. The committee will work hard to present an attractive and interesting conference programme and we certainly look forward to see you at the conference. Marseille is one of the oldest cities in Europe and is today a busy Mediterranean metropolis. Please spread information about the 11th Epilepsy & Society conference to all your affiliates, individual members or other persons and institutions. More information about the conference, website and so on, will be available in the near future.
Best wishes
Peter Dahlqvist
