Dear Colleagues,

I would like to thank all of you who voted for me to the positions of the Chairman and Vice President for IBE Africa Region. I would like to pledge to work with all our chapters and work towards increasing the number of chapters in our region, which currently stands at 19 out of 46 Countries with the population of 639,631,000 people.

Though we are proud that Africa is the second fast growing IBE Chapters after Europe, the current number of chapters are few compared to the number of countries we have in the region, even in countries where these chapters exist many have problem in implementing epilepsy services due to lack of support from governments and strategic plans.

I would like therefore to appeal to all chapters to come up with a four year strategic plan so that we may have direction on how we shall work in the next four years.

Lastly I would like to thank the previous IBE International Executive Committee and IBE Africa regional committee who worked hard under difficult situations to bring us where we are today. To all of you, may I simply say job well done and God bless you!
