The Eastern Mediterranean Regional Committee is the youngest of IBE’s regional structures. The region was officially launched at the time of the 1st East Mediterranean Regional Congress, which took place in Luxor, Egypt in February 2007.

Elections to fill the positions of Chair, Vice-chair and Secretary on the Regional Executive Committee Eastern Mediterranean were completed in early 2008 with the following results:

Chair: Mrs Manar Sawan, Lebanon
Vice Chair: Dr Muhammed Aldossari, Saudi Arabia
Secretary: Prof Najib Kissani, Morocco
