SEA Region
History of epilepsy is as old as history of medicine. People with epilepsy has not only to live with their epilepsy, but have to face stigma, social prejudices and discrimination at every level from schooling to job and marriage. SEA region is unique in itself. The region is rich in diversity. Society is multi religious, multi linguistic, multi culture and multi ethnic. Society has different levels of economic growth and varying medical facilities. Different systems of medicine exist from allopathing to aurveda, naturopathy, yoga and treatment from different religious heads. Thus problems of this region are unique. We have to find innovative ways to bring relief to the patient with epilepsy (PWP).
We feel proud that this region belongs to proud family of IBE which has created special region to deal with this inform of IBE South East Region.
We have to all put our head together to help in Gigantic Task to make life better for our patient with epilepsy. We have to find ways and means to narrow the treatment gap. We have to also put our energies to help solving peculiar social problems.
All of us, whether medical, paramedical or different walk of life should contribute to help the patient with epilepsy to improve their lot. Patient with epilepsy should be given a sense of belonging to a large fraternity – a large family of IBE. Let us join hands in this endeavor.
