First introduced in 1967 to recognise those dedicated people who had made a significant contribution at international level, the IBE/ILAE Ambassador for Epilepsy awards have since been presented at each International Epilepsy Congress. To date, almost 300 people have been presented with an Ambassador for Epilepsy pin in recognition of their efforts in both the lay and medical fields to improve the quality of life of people with epilepsy.
As the Ambassador awards were first introduced as an IBE award, the Bureau decided to organise a special event during the 29th International Epilepsy Congress in Rome to celebrate the efforts of all those who have received the award since it was first introduced. More than 100 Ambassadors attended this special private event which took place on Monday 29th August 2011.
In addition a special booklet was also created to honour all Ambassadors for Epilepsy. Click here to download this booklet.
