Driving regulations for people with epilepsy vary enormously from country to country (and even within some countries) and within regions of the world. There are also many countries that have no regulations or have blanket bans on driving for persons with epilepsy. It can often be very difficult to access information on what regulations apply in a country and as a result many people with epilepsy are unfairly precluded from, or restricted in, driving. It also means that many people with epilepsy drive when they should not, as a consequence of unfair or unclear rules.
Go to Driving RegulationsThe aim of the Governance Task Force is to thoroughly review and propose amendments to the Constitution and/or Bye laws of the International Bureau for Epilepsy such that any revisions to them can be put forward for the approval of the IBE voting members at the next most appropriate General Assembly.
The Task Force will also consider issues which fall within the scope of the above which are either referred to the Task Force by the President or the International Executive Committee or which the Task Force itself concludes are appropriate topics for its consideration and to report its deliberations and recommendations to the President and the International Executive Committee.
Go to GovernanceA series celebratory activities are being arranged by the Golden Jubilee Task Force to mark IBE’s great milestone in 2011. Celebrations will continue throughout 2011 with particular focus on the 29th International Epilepsy Congress, which will take place in Rome, where IBE was founded in 1961.
Go to IBE Golden JubileeThe objective of the Research Task Force is to identify and target specific areas of epilepsy research which IBE and its member associations might use in advocacy work, political activity, and in initiatives to publicise and raise awareness of epilepsy. These will include (but are not exclusive to) stigma, epidemiology, pregnancy and motherhood, SUDEP and other epilepsy deaths, legislation, and educational issues in epilepsy.
Go to ResearchWith the introduction of a new IBE constitution in 2005, it was required to put in place an Election Task Force. This Election Task Force is the guardian of the IBE’s election process and ensures that procedures are adhered to and are applied fairly in all of the IBE elections. The Task Force is also accountable to the full membership of the IBE.
