The winners of the 2012 Excellence in Epilepsy Journalism Award have just been announced!
This is the fourth year that UCB and the International Bureau for Epilepsy have collaborated on this initiative. The award recognises excellent journalistic work raising awareness of epilepsy, giving a voice to people with epilepsy and effectively engaging readers, listeners and viewers.
The award was open to all journalists and entries were judged by an international panel of experts in four categories: print, online, TV and radio. Winners were selected in recognition of their significant contribution to the understanding of epilepsy.
So, without further ado…
Listen to the broadcast:
The winners of the TV category were a team from Finland, including Anne Flinkkilä, Sari Valto, Hilkka Yli-Arvo, Päivi Valkama and Anne Kristo, for their programme, ‘The Human Factor: Then there was only darkness’ broadcast by the Finnish National Broadcast Company.
And last but not least, the print category went to Megan Howe for her article ‘Getting ahead of epilepsy’, published in the Australian Doctor magazine.
Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to all who took part.
